MASHOKO CHRISTIAN HOSPITAL MEDICAL MINISTRY

MASHOKO-CHRISTIAN-HOSPITAL-THIRD-QUARTER-2023-UPDATE

mashoko Christian Hospital

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We wish, again, to share with you what the Lord has permitted us to achieve from July to September and blessings He has showed us with.

1.      BUNGUS HAVE A NEW GRANDCHILD.

Kudakwashe David (our lastborn son) and his wife Clareen Tatenda were blessed with a beautiful daughter Monday night the 30th of October. The birth was by C/S which was done by the grandfather of the baby. She weighed in at 3.96 Kg. Her name is Nesta (Don’t ask me for the meaning in Shona or English). She is going to share her birthday with Kudzaishe Robert our oldest son. PRAISE THE LORD!

  1.   WEATHER.

Our Summers has started. Predictions are that this
year we are going to have below normal amounts of rain dur to the El Nino.
Temperatures, except for here and there, have been very high. Look at these
screen shots:

The second picture, which is not so clear but has 91 degrees shows the average temperature.

3. DEDICATION OF THE BOB AND ROSELLA MEMORIAL ACCOMMODATIONS.

In celebrating its 50th anniversary, FAME decided to raise funds and celebrate the lives and service of these greats. Bob Reeves was the first Executive Director of FAME. Mashoko was one of the partners of FAME that got these memorial funds and we decided to construct an accommodation complex for staff in memory of Bob and Rosella. Bill Warren, the present Executive of FAME, came to Zimbabwe to dedicate the houses to the Lord and to the memory of Bob and Rosella. The dedication was on September 14, 2023. The whole Mashoko team was overjoyed and thankful. Enjoy some of the pictures from that day:

Mr. Nakirai Chakafa Nurse Anesthetist from Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital and former Mashoko Nursing student.

4.   Vesicovaginal fistula surgeries (VVF).

We continue to be used by the Lord to help the neglected and helpless. That is how I can describe our ministry to those with injuries that got their bladders broken during delivery of their babies. They are now ostracized by husbands and relatives because they have a strong smell of urine wherever they are. You should see how overjoyed they are when they are healed! We stay with them for 21 days after the surgery to allow for healing process. During all that time we will be sharing Christ with them. Many have become Christians during that time. Rimbi Church of Christ close to three hours east of Mashoko was started around such patients. During the September camp we operated on 35 women. PRAISE THE LORD!.

5. PLANNING FOR A SHORT-TERM MISSIONS MINISTRY TO MASHOKO NEXT YEAR?

You are very welcome! We encourage you to come. Let us plan with you:

  • We plan, Lord permitting, to leave Zimbabwe for a furlough in the USA on July 15, 2024.
  • Period you can choose to come: April 1 to July 15. BUT June 19 to 29 is already taken.

WE PRAY A GROUP WILL COME FROM YOUR CHURCH!

Kindly pray for us to be given US visas.

6. MINISTRY NEEDS.

a. Monthly support for wages and allowances:     $8,783.00.

b. Doctors’ Allowances excluding Dr. Bungu who is in (a) above: $3,800.00.

c. Office and Recurrent Expenses: $3,230.13.

d. High School fees support per term x 3 terms per year per child = $220.00.

e. Primary School fees support per term x 3 terms per year per child = $100.

f. Church activities support per year:                                                $1030.00.

Kindly pray for God to use you either individually, as a Sunday School class or as a Church to support the above needs. Kindly send your donation to:

*Mashoko Christian Hospital Inc, P. O. Box 19022, Indianapolis, Indiana 46219. Or Pay on line on: mashoko.org.

7. APPEALING FOR FUNDS TO PAY FOR A LITHIUM BATTERY FOR THE GUEST HOUSES:

The national electricity grid serves Mashoko very poorly. Diesel for the standby generator is expensive. The hospital and not the Guest houses or other houses is supplied power by a 130 solar panel system. So, we decided to install a solar system for the Guest Houses and the nearby Bungu house. The groups that came for short term Missions visits in 2023 were the first ones to enjoy that benefit. Because we wanted the system to be available when they got here, we borrowed $1650 to buy the big Lithium solar battery. We challenged the group from Alabama to see if they could raise money before they came. They were able to raise $500. We are kindly asking for you all to pray and see if you can contribute towards the remaining $1150. Those who would like to contribute towards this project should use the above channels of contribution and specify that the donation is for The Guest Houses Solar Lithium Battery.
